The short version

These two used to be a closer comparison than they are now. Sherlok built its name on client retention — automated repricing and refinance alerts through its RateTraker feature — but as of 2026 its homepage leads with InstantAPPLY, a loan-application product that automates fact-finds, bank statements, credit reports and expense categorisation. Retention is still in the subscription; it is no longer the headline. TrailScope has stayed on the book: trail, upfront and clawback analytics, loan-by-loan retention scoring and AI insights over the whole portfolio, with no origination workflow at all.

So the honest framing is that Sherlok is becoming an origination-plus-retention platform and TrailScope is a portfolio intelligence tool. If you write loans and want one product across the application and the after-settlement relationship, that is Sherlok's pitch. If you want to understand and defend the book you already have, that is TrailScope's.

Where each fits

Choose Sherlok if your primary need is automated lender repricing — sending lender repricing requests programmatically with a structured workflow around them.

Choose TrailScope if you want the full portfolio picture: cash-flow analytics, retention scoring, clawback exposure, AI insights on top of a clean dataset — and you'd rather your brokers handle repricing manually but with full context.

Some brokerages use both: Sherlok for the reprice automation, TrailScope for the analytics and forecasting layer.

Integration overlap

Both products ingest the same aggregator exports (AFG, Connective, MyCRM, Salestrekker). If you've already exported a trail report this month for one tool, the same file works in the other.

Data handling

Both hold data in Australia. TrailScope's AI features run on aggregate-only context (no client PII goes to the model) and support bring-your-own-key for unlimited use. See Security for the architecture.

FAQ

Can I migrate from Sherlok to TrailScope?

Yes — TrailScope ingests the same aggregator exports. Onboarding is upload-driven; you don't need to migrate any Sherlok-specific data.

Does TrailScope auto-send reprice requests like Sherlok?

No. TrailScope flags loans at risk and gives you the context, but the reprice request itself is sent by the broker through the lender's normal channel.

Does Sherlok have AI insights?

Not in the sense TrailScope does. TrailScope's AI Insights uses Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini against an aggregate context to answer free-form questions about the portfolio.

Is one cheaper than the other?

TrailScope's entry-level price is lower. Sherlok's pricing scales with book size; TrailScope's scales with brokers / loan count. Confirm both against your specific numbers.

Can I trial both?

TrailScope is free — no card, no trial clock. Sherlok's pricing is on their site.
